Lately, I’ve been drifting towards my former grunge aesthetics and from grunge, heroin chic look was born. Waif like girls dominated ‘90s high fashion and wore makeup that accentuated their dark circles and painted their lips red or brown, but towards the end of the decade this look was abandoned because it glamorized drug use.

I’ve been really drawn to the smudgy brown and black makeup that could be seen on Courtney Love because it feels so effortless and with Glossier Skywash eyeshadow it is effortless. The doe foot applicator makes it easy to apply and then you can just blend it out with your finger for a messy look. It’s really cool because it goes on as a liquid, but then it turns matte. The wash lasts all day, but will end up creasing if you don’t set it with eyeshadow. With this look I don’t mind the creasing, in fact, I think the more lived in the eyeshadow appears the better it is.

I recommend using the colors Echo, Burnt Siena, and Warmed Peach then lining your eyes with a brown liner to create a heroin chic eye look.
